Paid Internships
All of these internships are available in Metro Vancouver. To qualify for an internship, you must be currently enrolled at a college or university – in Canada or abroad. Or – you must qualify for a Young Workers Exchange Visa or Youth Mobility Visa (more info on those here).

NB: These are the only fields currently offered in the Paid Internship Program.
Bookkeeping
Interns assist with the preparation of ‘monthlies’, ‘yearlies’, ‘expense reports’, tax remittances, and other financial matters as required. All jobs are in Metro Vancouver – though rarely in the city centre. Many jobs are in suburban Burnaby, Richmond, or Surrey. The typical office is in a small manufacturing or services firm with between 10 and 20 employees. Interns train via job-shadowing before moving on to their regular internship job. Interns usually earn approximately $9.00 per hour.
Additional Requirements: Have a degree in accounting – OR – Have completed a 2-year (or better) diploma in bookkeeping – OR – Have at least 2 years of continuous experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
Hospitality
These internships are all outside of Metro Vancouver, typically in the Rockies, BC Interior, or Vancouver Island. Subsidized accommodation is provided in each location. Interns will work in hotels, resorts or ranches. There they will typically be based in one department for 3 – 4 days per week, and circulate and observe other departments for the remaining days. Interns usually earn approximately $9.00 per hour.
Additional Requirements: Recent graduate of a one-year certificate, or two-year diploma program in hospitality management – OR – Have at least 2 continuous years experience in hospitality management.
Information Technology
These are jobs in software design, network administration, web applications development, quality assurance, tech support, or telecom. The specific job varies according to student ability. Most students work in small to medium sized firms in Vancouver, Burnaby or Richmond. They take on junior roles, though with much independence. These internships are usually paid at a stipend rate of approximately $250 per week.
Additional Requirements: Have a 2-year diploma or better in computer science, or information technology – OR – Have at least 2 years of recent (within 3 months of applying) continuous experience in IT.
NB. IT disciplines do not include graphic design, industrial design, or web design. People with education or experience in these fields may not apply for the paid internship program.
Office Administration
These internships include reception, data entry, and filing duties. All jobs are in Metro Vancouver – though rarely in the city centre. Many jobs are in suburban Burnaby, Richmond, or Surrey.
